Child 2 - Sophia Plott
George and Margaret Plott List of Children
Birth, Death, Last Will & Testament and Grave Location
(2) Sophia Margaret Plott (c. June-July 1764 to c. 1814 when Anthony became an orphan). It has been found that she was born in Berks County, Pennsylvania and baptized at St. Peter's Reform Church. She was named after her sponsor, Sophia Frauenfelder. She married John Jarrett, Sr. (c.1766 to c. prior 1812, according to Cabarrus County, North Carolina Pleas and Quarter Sessions). Both died in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. Children: John Jarrett, Jr. married Susannah Russell, William Jarrett married Hannah Miller-Seavers, and Anthony Jarrett married Mary Polly Rogers.
“Both dead, 3 sons John, William, Anthony – AR.” from the list of children for George and Margaret Plott
Sophia Margaret born in Berks County, Pennsylvania c June-July, 1764 from the baptism record at St. Peter's Reform Church in Berks County, Pennsylvania. She was named after her sponsor, Sophia Frauenfelter.
Died in more than likely Cabarrus County, N.C. c 1815 from when Anthony became an orphan reported in the Cabarrus County, N.C. Pleas and Quarter Sessions.
John Jarrett may have been born in Pennsylvania; however, no documentation.
We now know that she had a middle name "Margaret". She was baptized on July 8, 1764, with the sponsor Sophia Frauenfelter. Please notice how Sophia took on her sponsor's given name. The surname was written as Black; however, we know that this would be correct George that we are looking for, as his sister Margaret married John Hans Ulrich Frauenfelter. Also, his brother Frederick was recorded on the same page. The connection is there.
Now that I have seen this entry for Sophia’s baptism in 1764 in Pennsylvania, it can be said that her older sister Mary and Sophia were born in Berks County, Pennsylvania.

Sophia and Catherine were sisters; thus, John Jarrett and Robert Lee were brother-in laws.
Note to reader: This entry proves that John Jarrett (Sr.) did have a Last Will and Testament; however, sadly, it may have been burned in the Cabarrus Courthouse fire of 1875.
Note to reader: This entry proves that John Jarrett (Sr.) did have a Last Will and Testament; however, sadly, it may have been burned in the Cabarrus Courthouse fire of 1875.
The list of children authorized by John and Elias Plott, Executors of George and Margaret’s Estates is documentation of the Jarrett boys/men being brothers, being sons of Sophia & John Jarrett, and being nephews of Daniel Plott. As John Jarrett (Jr.) was recorded on the 1820 Cabarrus County, N.C. census and William Jarrett married Hannah Miller-Seavers on March 4, 1821 in County of Lawrence, AR, it is believed that the Jarrett boys were born in Cabarrus County, N.C. and eventually moved to AR between the 1820 census enumeration date of August 7, 1820 to March 4, 1821, William and Hannah’s marriage. Also, Anthony married Polly/Mary Ann Rogers on January 18, 1824 in AR.

2. William Jarrett
Born in presumed Cabarrus County, N.C. c 1796 from 1850 census and from the fact that father’s Last Will and Testament was recorded in the Cabarrus County, N.C. Pleas and Quarter court.
Died in Randolph County, AR c August 5, 1851 from Randolph County, AR probate record, page 393, “... William Jarrett of the County of Randolph Died intestate as it is said on or about the 5th day of August A.D. 1851…”
Married Hannah Miller-Seavers on March 4, 1821, in County of Lawrence, AR from AR Marriage Record.

"Territory of Arkansas, County of Lawrence. Be it remembered that on the fourth day of March, in the year of Our Lord on thousand eight hundred and twenty, William Jarrett and Hannah (Miller) Seavers of the county and Territory aforesaid, were by me duely married..." the Jarrett boys moved to AR between the 1820 census enumeration date of August 7, 1820 to March 4, 1821, William and Hannah’s marriage. Also, Anthony married Polly/Mary Ann Rogers on January 18, 1824 in AR.
William Jarrett did NOT have a middle initial or middle name. NOTE: The Prt. William H. Jarrett, who joined the Confederacy in 1861, was from the State of Kentucky and enlisted in Tennessee. Our Col. William Jarrett died in 1851, has no middle initial or middle name. A search of land records, military records, probate court records, administration records, census, list of children for George & Margaret Plott, etc. finds no middle initial or middle name for William Jarrett, son of Sophia Plott and John Jarrett. His name is William Jarrett. William Jarrett did not move to AR in 1800. He would have only been approximately four (4) years old. As John Jarrett (Jr.) was recorded on the 1820 Cabarrus County, N.C. census and William Jarrett married Hannah Miller-Seavers on March 4, 1821 in County of Lawrence, AR, it is believed that the Jarrett boys moved to AR between the 1820 census enumeration date of August 7, 1820 to March 4, 1821, William and Hannah’s marriage. “Affidavit, State of AR, County of Randolph. I, Hanah Jarrett, do solemnly swore that the value of the estate of William Jarrett deceased, who died intestate upon whose estate I have proper letters of administration is not to the best of my knowledge and belief more than nine thousand one hundred dollars thus said William Jarrett died without making a will, leaving as his only heirs, to wit, Henry C. Jarrett, a son, and Parmelia Jarrett a daughter, who are residents of the State of AR and County of Randolph…” Randolph County, AR Probate, page 393-395.
“His only heirs, to wit, Henry C. Jarrett, a son, and Parmelia Jarrett a daughter” was reported by widow Hannah Miller-Seavers-Jarrett.

I pause here to review the 1830 census and calculate William’s age. William reports that his age was between “30 thru 39” years, which would support him being born c 1796. There are tales that William purchased land in the Randolph community from a John Gould Fletcher in 1801, which would make him the first settler in Randolph County. Impossible! William would have been about four or five years old. As mentioned above, the Jarrett boys moved to AR in 1820.

Anthony Jarrett was mention in the “History of Southeast Missouri” book. I typically do not like quote books without confirming the information for specific stories. However, after inquiring with the Cape Girardeau Baptist Association, I was told that documentation on the Black River Baptist Association has been lost over time. In the “History of Southeast Missouri”, The Goodspeed Publishing Co., Chicago, 1888, the following was written: “Black River Baptist Association was organized with six churches dismissed from Cape Girardeau Association, on November 14, 1835, at Greeneville, Wayne County. Henry McElmurry was chosen moderator, and S. B. McKnight, clerk. The churches were represented as follows: Black River, by . McElmurry and William Macom; Cherokee Bay, Elder S. Winingham; Columbia, by Samuel Mitchell and Mathias Mack; Big Creek by George Graham; Bear Creek, by William Smith, and Greeneville, by William Bennett and Anthony Jarrett. The total membership of these churches was 188. Big Creek, Bear Creek and Greeneville were all constituted in 1835, and Black River in 1831.”
