Child 4 - Elizabeth Plott
George and Margaret Plott List of Children
(4) Elizabeth Plott (c. 1769 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina to c. 1827) married John Adams, Sr. (c. 1769 to c. 1827). John Adams, Sr. was recorded on an 1826 Twiggs County, Georgia tax list. They are presumed to have died in Twiggs County, Georgia. They were both dead before 1830. Children: George Adams married Name Not Documented, Henry Adams married Millie Alewine, David Adams - Unknown Name of First Wife and Darcus Mercer, John Adams, Jr. married Nancy Ellis, Daniel Adams married Elizabeth Ellis, Obadiah Adams married Elizabeth McRae, Bennett Adams married - Unknown Name, Margaret Adams married Henry Swindler, and Catherine Adams married Jas. A. Rooks. They lived in Newberry, South Carolina and counties close to Macon, Georgia; southwestern Georgia.
Elizabeth was born in Mecklenburg/Cabarrus County, N.C., circa 1769; from North Carolina Archives - George & Margaret Plott Estate file - list of children.
It is unknown as to where John was born; however, it is presumed that he was born, at least, circa 1769; perhaps, give or take a few years.
On “... of the Estate of Archibald Beggs Deceased Dated the 14th Day of December, 1786”, Eliz. (Elizabeth) Plott was listed, along with her father George Plott, brother John Plott and sister, Sophia Plott.
Some of Elizabeth and John's children reported on census that they were born in S.C., as indicated on the list of children from George and Margaret’s Estate Files.
We do know that they died prior to 1830, which was the year Margaret died, as recorded in the N.C. Archives. On the George and Margaret Plott list of children for Elizabeth, “Both dead”, meaning that both Elizabeth and John were dead when Margaret died in 1830.
We know that Elizabeth married John Adams from the George and Margaret Plott list of children; however, at this time, no marriage record has been found; probably, 1792.
The quote from the list of children from George and Margaret’s Estate Files is as follows: “Elizabeth married John Adams. Both dead. George Adams, Henry Adams, David Adams, John Adams, Daniel, Obadiah & Bennett Adams, Margaret married to Henry Swindler, Catherine Adams married to Jas. A. Rooks. S.C. and GA”. Please remember that these names come from John and Elias Plott, brother to Elizabeth. They would know the names of their nephews and nieces.
During the settlement of George and Margaret’s estate there was a complaint between the siblings of the deceased Elizabeth Plott-Adams versus her children. I am not totally clear on what the proceeding were about; however, “... complaint of John Plott, Henry Plott, John Baugh and Catherine his wife, Elias Plott, Isaac Plott and Dan’l Plott, heirs and devisees of George Plott late of Lincoln County deceased,...”, “...and his daughter Elizabeth married to John Adams, both of who are dead = leaving, George Adams, Henry Adams, David Adams, John Adams, Daniel, Obediah & Bennett Adams, & a daughter Margaret married to Henry Swindler, and Catherine married to James A Rooks all of whom live out of the State.” This document confirms the names of Elizabeth and John Adams children. Also, “The North-Carolina Star” newspaper of Raleigh, N.C., on December 2, 1831, Friday, Page 3 reports: “State of North Carolina, Lincoln County. In Equity - Fall Term, 1831. John Plott, Henry Plott, John Baugh and Catherine his wife, Elias Plott, Isaac Plott and Daniel Plott, heirs and devisees of George Plott, dec. Complainants, vs. George Adams, Henry Adams, David Adams, John Adams, (left off Daniel), Obediah and Bennett Adams, Margaret, married to Henry Swindler, and Catherine, married to James A. Witness, John D. Hoke, Clerk and Master of said Court, at office, the 5th Monday after the 4th Monday of September, A. D. 1831, Jno. D. Hoke, C.M.R. 49 6w””

As written by John Plott and Elias Plott on the list of children, Elizabeth Plott and John Adams are found in South Carolina. John Adams was written on the 1810 and 1820 Census for Newberry County, South Carolina.
1826 John Adams, Sr. was recorded on the Twiggs County, Georgia Property Tax List. This means that John Adams, Sr. and, perhaps, Elizabeth Plott-Adams had moved to Georgia. Their sons John Adams (Jr.), Daniel Adams and David Adams were also listed on the Property Tax schedule. Their son Obediah Adams was listed on the 1830 Property Tax schedule.
