George and Margaret Plott List of Children
(8) Isaac Plott (c. 1778 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina to c. 1832) married - Unknown Name. Died in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. Census reports suggests that Isaac may have married twice and could have had five sons and two daughters. Candidate children: calculating for first wife - Hannah Plott married Robert McCommon, William Plott married Sarah Rosana Funderbrugh (Vanderburg), Daniel Plott married Leah Shank, George M. Plott married Margaret Wilkinson and John W. Plott married Caroline ?; then, calculating for second wife, possibly Mary Polly Winecroff-Rumple, Mary M. Linny Plott married Nathan Mitchel Clark, and Elias H. Plott married Mary A. Unknown Maiden Name and Sarah Ann Huffstetler. No proof on the parentage or order of births
Census reports suggest that Isaac may have been married at least twice and could have had four sons and two daughters. “Cabarrus” County, N.C. On the 1810 census, it is observed that Isaac Plott's name is the name right below Catherine's husband, Robert Lee.
It is also noted that Isaac Plott died during the settlement of George and Margaret's estate settlement; “certify that Tobias Klutts, Jr. was duly appointed Administrator on the Estate rights & credits of Isaac Plott ...our said Court at January Sessions 1833.” Within George and Margaret Plott's estate settlement documents, there is a receipt from Tobias Klutts, Jr. on the behalf of the deceased Isaac Plott for “76 1/3 cents being one ninth of the sell of land belonging to the estate of George Plott de'd ...” This information again confirms that George and Margaret Plott had nine children.

The author of this report is finally accepting the probability that Isaac Plott’s estate file and Last Will and Testament were more than likely destroyed in the Cabarrus Courthouse fire of 1875. Thankfully, there are three references to Isaac’s estate in the Court of Pleas and Quarter Minutes of Cabarrus County,
January 1833, “Ordered that G. W. Spears, Esq., Abel Corzine & James While act on confirmation to lay off and allot to the widow of Isaac Plott her years provision.” This confirms that Isaac was married at the time of his death as the word ‘widow’ was used.

Isaac was a witness in a civil matter, “386 ...take the body of John Bumgarner Junr. & bring him before some Justice to answer Mical Felker in a sute by Note of Hand under L15 (15 pounds) ...5 September 1800. John Parr. Summons Hennarey Foster in behalf of the Platif & Isack Plat for the defendant. Executed by John Duncan, Constable. Mical Felker vs. Jonn. Bumgarner Jn. b. Daniel Plott (married Leah Shank), At this time, I want to discuss which Daniel Plott married Leah Shank. Many authors of genealogy trees and books have Daniel Plott, son of George and Margaret Plott, as marrying Leah Shank. Wrong! There is a generation of years between the two men. Yes, I know that their is a marry record for Daniel Plott marrying Leah Shank on January 18, 1838. There were two individual Daniels. UNCLE Daniel Plott, son of George and Margaret Plott, married Frances (unknown maiden name) and NEPHEW Daniel Plott, candidate son of Isaac and husband to Leah Shank. Also remember, the list of children written by or authorized by John and Elias Plott, discloses that their brother moved to AR. Nephew Daniel Plott, who married Leah Shank, moved to Tennessee. Fannie's grave marker, clearly reads, "Fannie Wife of Daniel Plott Died in Sipe Springs Aug. 23, 1883 Aged 89 Yrs." Sipe is pronounced "Seep". In Daniel's Last Will and Testament, he mentions, "... to my wife Fanny..." A variation on the spelling; however, very clearly Uncle Daniel names his wife.
c. George M. Plott (married Margaret Wilkinson),
d. Elias H. Plott (married Mary Motley)
Please be aware of the middle initial "H." Elias "H." Plott is a son candidate of Isaac Plott, not a son of Isaac's brother, Elias Plott. Elias "W." Plott was the son of Elias Plott. Remember, the "W." is the son of Elias Plott and the "H." is the son candidate of Isaac Plott. The "W." for Elias "Wagner" Plott. Elias H. Plott and Elias W. Plott were first cousins.

e. Hannah Plott married Robert McCommon: marriage recorded County Court Records at Concord, N.C., date August 31, 1816. Estate file for Robert McCommon discloses his wife to be Hannah McCommon; location N.C., Estate Files, 1663-1979, Cabarrus County, McCommon, Robert (1839). Robert McCommon died in 1839 in Cabarrus County, N.C.

f. Unknown Daughter.
Sadly, as of the date of this report, no proof has been found and/or released to connect the parentage of the children candidates to Isaac Plott. The mentioning of these persons to be possible candidates of Isaac Plott is by “power-of-deduction” by the author of this report.
> The age/birth years of these persons could be chronologically children of Isaac Plott.
> Documentation for these persons can be linked to Cabarrus County, N.C. where Isaac Plott remained for the duration of his life.
> These persons are not found on documentation of other Plott sons of George and Margaret Plott. > These persons are not found as claimed by other Plott sons of George and Margaret Plott.
> On Federal census, Isaac Plott reports that he had sons and daughters. Unfortunately, the early 1800’s census do not list the names of household members.
Ergo, the author of this report puts these persons on the list of candidates as children of Isaac Plott.
What other subtle hints has historical research found about Isaac Plott? It is considered, perhaps, Isaac Plott rented a home (perhaps, on his parents land) and/or he was a tradesman of some kind, perhaps, a blacksmith or worked in the goldmines. However, no documentation has been found and/or released to prove Issac's profession. Research needs to continue to link children, his residence and profession.
At this time, I want to pause and mention a “N.C., Estate Files, 1663-1979, Cabarrus County, for Rumple, John (1815). Within Mr. Rumple’s file is a survey of his twenty-two acre property. On the reverse side of the survey, the following with written, “Widow Rumple” on the first line and “Plott” on the second line. The reference to Plott was not clarified on the document; however, within other estate files for men, the phrase “afterwards wife of (new husband’s name)” was written on second lines. The author of this report asks the question, “did Isaac Plott marry Widow Rumple, if his first wife did in fact die early?” On the 1810 census, Isaac did not report a female of an age to be his wife; thus, it is believed that his first wife died prior to the 1810 census. On the 1820 census, Isaac reports a female over 25 years old; thus, it is believed that Isaac remarried between 1810 to 1820. Mr. Rumple file reports his death in 1815 and reports “Widow Rumple Plott”. Time wise it fits for Isaac to have married Widow Rumple; however, no documentation has been found of the marriage.
